EVENING vs THE VILLAGE MARKETS RECAP...
December 21st, 2009
So 2 weeks ago EVENING for the first time ever set up our first ever 'POP-UP SHOP' in down town Burleigh Heads, taking part in THE VILLAGE MARKETS!
To be honest - I was super nervous as I have never really done anything quite like this before! Sure I have set up EVENING for sale at concerts and local shows while on tour with bands, but the people going to those shows are A. guaranteed to turn up, and B. are my customers and target market. To set up in the middle of the Gold Coast, in the middle of a primary school oval, in the middle of a Sunday morning, and hope for the best... that is a totally different kettle of fish and I didn't quite know what to expect...
It was a hustle of a week leading up to the event... I spent countless hours creating what I thought to be a super awesome POP-UP SHOP on the strictest of budgets. I hand painted all my coat hangers with little branded EVENING bats, I hand made 50 bags to put sold shirts in, not to mention sweating the delivery company for my brand new, black gazebo, as well as counting stock, setting up sales sheets, buying give aways, organising 2 new tees to be released on the day, buying tables and chairs, arranging decorations, and most importantly - marketing the event to everyone I knew... Its safe to say, on top of working full time I didn't sleep much the week leading up to the Village Markets.
Im pleased to announce that for EVENING the event was a complete success!! So many people waking past stopped to look at our POP-UP SHOP, taking closer looks at our old promo photos, checking out all the stuff hanging up, chatting about current fashion and the death of brands that care for their customers, taking a mint, buying a chuppa-chup, having a water, buying tees, stealing stickers, and creating a ruckus in an otherwise quite sterile environment! I saw alot of old friends and long time supporters, plus met alot of new faces! There were alot of people buying EVENING for the first time, that to me in itself means the day was a success, and I hope to see them all back again soon!!
People turned up, who just walked down the street, some drove half an hour, and some people drove over 2 hours to come pick up a new tee and sticker... one kid also caught 2 trains and a bus to come, travelling over 2 hours on public transport just to be the first person to get one of the new tees - thanks Hayden!!
It was such a success that EVENING will be there at the Village Markets again on the 3rd of January 2010 to bring in the new year! I hope to see some more familiar faces and meet even more new people!! Thanks for the ongoing support - below is some photos of the day for any of you who might be interested!
Thanks for the support... Death to majors... EVENING FOREVER..!
I missed out on taking photos of alot of people that came as I got caught up talking to so many people... so for those I missed im sorry, and I guess you will have to come back on January 3rd to get your photo taken!
A huge thank you must also be made to ELLA and ADAM, who without their help and support, the POP-UP SHOP would never have had been able to happen or run as smoothly as it did - so THANK YOU!!
